The Workroom
The Workroom is a Wichita-based organization that focuses on supporting and uplifting local artists and artisans within the community by featuring their work in their retail and online stores, participating in art-centered projects and holding public events. Though The Workroom’s mission is to ignite, inspire and promote arts and culture in the city, their existing website seemed to do the opposite. The website, including the e-commerce store, needed to be reimagined to make it user-friendly and appealing to their varied audiences. We started with their site map, reorganizing the flow of information so that artists have a more direct route to sell their work and consumers can discover just the right piece to purchase. We added a new section that highlights one of their most popular offerings and expanded the About section to create greater depth to their story. The overall design of the site was elevated through the use of custom patterns that matched the aesthetic of the brick and mortar store. We even simplified the process on the back end, connecting their online store with their POS system, streamlining the information about their programs and eliminating emailed forms. To get the word out about events and artist features, we worked with them on a content calendar that bridges new information on their website with their social media accounts. The end result is a website that truly captures the essence of a thriving art community in a city that would have it no other way.
